NBA Rumors: Alec Burks' trade value rising exponentially

It's no secret that the 2023-24 season has been an unmitigated disaster for the Detroit Pistons. They did get a win in their last game in Washington, but the Pistons, a team many expected to compete for a Play-In spot, sit at 4-36 at 40 games into their season.

There have been few bright spots for this Pistons team this season, obviously, but one of them, at least of late, has been Alec Burks who is playing like he wants to get traded to a contender.

Burks just tied his career-high with 34 points in the win against the Wizards, and has been playing particularly well over the last 11 games. The 32-year-old sharpshooter is averaging 18.7 points per game in his last 11 games on 48.5/48.8/89.5 shooting splits in just under 25 minutes per game. Burks has always been a productive bench scorer, but has taken his game to another level of late.

Burks got off to a slow start this season, but his play of late could increase his trade value. His shooting from behind the arc could be valuable for just about any contender — he's shooting 39.9 percent from 3-point range this season and 38.5 percent over his career. His $10.9 million expiring contract is very affordable, and one that most teams can find a way to take on without skipping a beat. He could bring back something decent to Detroit if he continues to play like this until the trade deadline.
