The Atlanta Falcons today announced that wide receiver Roddy White will miss the remainder of the preseason due to his ‘minor’ ankle sprain.

Per ESPN:

"Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White has a minor ankle sprain and it likely will prevent him from playing again this preseason, according to a source familiar with the injury. If this were the regular season, White would play, the source said. But the Falcons do not want to push him before he’s ready in the preseason."

There’s little reason for White to be on the field right now, given the injury. The eight year veteran is extremely familiar with the offense of Dirk Koetter and really doesn’t need much (if any) ‘practice reps’.

Add in the last few preseason games (especially the final game) are usually meant for players on the roster bubble, White would have played relatively sparingly anyway. So, with all factors combined, it’s best that White simply allow his ankle to heal before it becomes a nagging injury that bothers him throughout the season.
