A rough night for the New York Jets became even more rough when quarterback Mark Sanchez was leveled by New York Giants defensive tackle Marvin Austin.

The hit, which drove Sanchez into the ground forced Sanchez from the game who immediately made his way to the locker room.

Sanchez was then seen walking out of the Jets’ locker room, jersey off with shoulder heavily wrapped apparently en route to a local hospital as Sanchez left his postgame clothes hanging in his locker and never returned.

Per Kimberly Jones:

"Mark Sanchez left the stadium without talking to media & with his dress clothes still hanging in his locker, according to Jets PR."

The Jets were hoping to give Geno Smith time to acclimate himself but Smith looked lost for the vast majority of the game, resulting in Sanchez entering during the final quarter with the second team. Sanchez did go 6 of 7 for 72 yards, but was also sacked three times, not including the muff where Sanchez was injured.

We’ll likely know more about Sanchez’s injury tomorrow morning.
