Detroit Lions LB DeAndre Levy says team got ahead of themselves
By Bryan Rose
Remember when FOX Sports analyst and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson proclaimed the Detroit Lions as the best team in the NFL? Fun times.
How quickly things can change as Sunday afternoon, after dropping their fifth game in six attempts, the Lions were eliminated from playoff contention. So why the collapse, considering the Lions had what seemed to be a relatively easy route to the postseason? According to linebacker DeAndre Levy, it was because the team was looking ahead of themselves:
"“I think we just got ahead of ourselves and we created a situation,” Levy said. “I think we thought, being in the position we were in, we thought it would be handed to us. As players, we’ve got to tighten up, we’ve got to approach every game one game at a time.”"
It’s one thing to look ahead when it’s a single game, but to continually look ahead for nearly two months?
The Lions simply didn’t get it done in a division that was easily obtainable.
