After the win, the Argentina side was ready to celebrate their big win and advancement to the World Cup final, but they had to do so without the team’s star, Lionel Messi.

The reason for Messi missing the team’s celebration?

He was stuck in the doping control room waiting for a drug test.

Messi revealed the news on Instagram.

In a message translated by 101 Great Goals, Messi said, “I’ve been called for doping control and I can’t be enjoying the moment in the dressing room.

“I feel proud to be part of this team! Phenomenons every one of them! What a game they had. This is crazy. We’re in the final! Let’s enjoy this, a hug to all of Argentina, we have just one step left.”

The Argentina star even posted a great photo of himself waiting patiently in the holding room.

While it would have been great for Messi to join his teammates celebration, he will have the opportunity to have an even greater celebration on Sunday night if they are able to get past Germany and hoist the World Cup Trophy in front of rival Brazil’s home fans.

That will be the sweetest victory of all — let’s just hope that Messi doesn’t have to spend that celebration in the doping control room.
