Today’s USMNT news includes Patrick Vieira being linked with the Stars and Stripes head coach role. Liverpool is interested in Tyler Adams and Cade Cowell could be on his way to Europe.

USMNT news: Patrick Vieira next head coach?

Patrick Vieira has been out of work since being sacked by Crystal Palace earlier this year. However, he could be set to fill the vacant head coach position with the USMNT.

ESPN has reported “that the United States Soccer Federation has already made contact with Vieira, but talks haven’t progressed following the initial approach. Other managers are also in contention, but Vieira is keen on the challenge.”

Vieira’s managerial career has so far been mixed. After impressing in his first job at New York City FC, he has had short spells at Nice and Palace. The Frenchman seems to have suffered from ‘second-season syndrome’ at both of his last clubs. Although, his experience coaching in MLS and in Europe will put him in good stead for the head coach role with the USMNT.

Gregg Berhalter who last had the job, could still be in the running for the job. According to Rodolfo Landeros, “Berhalter is no longer a candidate to coach Club America in Liga MX. The reason: USMNT. He still expects to be considered in the final pool and manage the National Team once again.”

USMNT news: Tyler Adams to Liverpool

It seems like most days Tyler Adams is linked with another club. Liverpool can add themselves to the list of possible destinations for the Leeds United midfielder.

TEAMtalk has revealed that “Adams has told Leeds United he wants to play in the Premier League next season and he knows a host of clubs want to sign him. Liverpool could soon join the race for Adams after checking on his availability themselves.”

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to bolster their midfield after James Milner’s departure. The Reds have been looking for a player to do a job in the middle of the park for a while. Although, they ruled themselves out of signing Jude Bellingham, who has recently joined Real Madrid.

Adams is not on the same level as Bellingham but he will improve Liverpool. However, there is still a doubt about his fitness as he missed much of last season through injury. His hamstring problem was one of the main factors that led to Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

USMNT news: Cade Cowell to Europe

Cade Cowell was one of the best players for the USA at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina. The forward scored three goals as his side reached the quarter-finals.

His form has not gone unnoticed with Favian Renkel tweeting that “Cowell has had a lot of new European clubs show interest in him recently.” However, no team names were mentioned.

Cowell currently plays for the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS. A move to Europe would be a big step forward in the young American’s career.
