Although Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young isn’t a franchise talent, he’s certainly come into his own the past few seasons and has proven himself to be an All-Star level talent.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

Why exactly the Philadelphia 76ers want to give up on that is unknown, though there were reports suggesting that Young made a soft trade request this past season as he’s tired of all the losing.

Regardless if the Sixers want to move on from Thaddeus Young or if the forward simply wants out, the Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in acquiring him.

Rumors suggested that there could be a three-team deal involving the Cavaliers that would have sent Anthony Bennett to Minnesota in exchange from Cleveland and in turn he’d be shipped to Philadelphia in exchange for Thaddeus Young. However, once news broke of the proposed/pending trade between the Cavaliers and Timberwolves, there was no inclusion of Philadelphia as the third team.

That said, both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers remain interested in making a deal.

As of right now there’s no word on what type of assets would be returning to the re-building Philadelphia 76ers, but it seems logical to think that Anthony Bennett (who is involved in the alleged Cleveland/Minnesota trade) would still likely find his way to the City of Brotherly Love in such a deal, though there has yet to be any confirmation of that.

It’s previously been noted that the 76ers acquiring Bennett in exchange for Young is a bit of a head-scratcher considering they already have both Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel, but it seems like Philadelphia GM Sam Hinke has a plan and he’s sticking to it.

Update: On second thought, it seems as if the Wolves want to keep Bennett moving forward.
