During San Francisco’s tough loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, Davis was forced out of action after he came down oddly on his ankle. The Pro Bowl tight end wanted to go back into the game, but it was clear something was wrong and the medical staff was not about to let Davis further the situation by playing.
Vernon Davis was seen on crutches after the game, though local media suggested the San Francisco 49ers tight end was in good spirits.
More of that is to continue after CSN Bay Area says Davis avoided any major injury.
What isn’t known is if Vernon Davis will be able to suit up for San Francisco’s Week 3 tilt against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals. While there was no significant injury, that doesn’t mean Davis will be completely healthy if he does take the field for the 49ers on Sunday. Currently such a decision is up in the air and will likely be decided upon later this week.
Fearing that Vernon Davis may need an additional week of recovery time, the San Francisco 49ers signed fellow tight end Xavier Grimble off the practice squad.
