EJ Manuel comments on Florida State’s Jameis Winston
On Tuesday, news broke that Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jameis Winston was standing on a table and shouting obscenities at the student union.

On Wednesday, Florida State announced that Winston would be suspended for the first half of the top-ranked Seminoles’ showdown with the 22nd-ranked Clemson Tigers Saturday night.
Winston’s mentor and friend, former Florida State and current Buffalo Bills’ quarterback E.J. Manuel was asked about the incident and suspension on Wednesday.
“I think it’s just being smart, understanding that you just got to make good decisions,” Manuel said via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com. “You’re not just a normal student at Florida State. You’re the quarterback, you’re the Heisman Trophy winner. I’m sure he’ll continue to learn from those things.”
Manuel, who has led the Bills to a 2-0 start, keeps in regular contact with Winston. He didn’t know about this situation but is going to call Winston to see what’s happening.
“I talk to him all the time. I talked to him last week,” he said. “But I didn’t know about the situation today, so I’ll call him, figure out what’s going on.”
Although Manuel’s play has been criticized, all indications are that he has been a model citizen off of the field, which is something Winston cold learn from him.
