On Friday a report that the Minnesota Timberwolves were offering restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe a max contract and were trying to swing a sign-and-trade to acquire him surfaced.

That report, however, was quickly shot down, which may not be the worst thing for Bledsoe. Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders believes Phoenix is the best place for Bledsoe.

"At least he’s on the right team to keep himself healthy, as Phoenix has the best training staff in the league, but with all those point guards on the roster he might not have quite the same opportunity to showcase his skill that he would’ve had last year had he not missed all that time after his meniscus surgery.A dominant year out of him earns him big money, but still probably not max unless he ratchets up his game and makes an All-Star game and/or an All-NBA team. In the meantime, Bledsoe is just waiting, even as camp closes in and the rest of the league’s stars gear up for another season."

The Suns’ training staff is indeed well-known for their work with several oft-injured players including Jermaine O’Neal, Jason Richardson and perhaps most impressively Grant Hill so Brigham’ point is well-taken.

Bledsoe averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season. In his four-year NBA career, the 18th-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft, has averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 44.5% from the floor, 32.7% from three and 75.8% from the charity stripe.
