The NBA season is almost here.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Teams will open up training camp next week and although most have filled out their roster, teams are still looking to add players to their roster for training camp. Some teams choose to look for young players they can develop while others turn to veterans that can potentially make the team.

It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers are going the youth route.

According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers have signed former Michigan State Spartans’ rookie guard Keith Appling, former Missouri Tigers’ rookie guard Jabari Brown, former UNLV Runnin’ Rebels’ forward Roscoe Smith and former Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks’ big man Jeremy Tyler for training camp.

Appling averaged 11.2 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 45.2% from the field, 36.2% from beyond the arc and 66.0% from the charity stripe for the Spartans last season. Brown put up 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 46.7% from the floor, 41.0% from three and 79.7% from the free throw line. Smith went for 11.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1% from the field, 20.0% from downtown and 66.7% from the foul line. Tyler, a three-year NBA veteran, put up 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 51.7% from the field and 54.2% from the free throw line in 41 games for the Knicks last season.
