After Paul George suffered a gruesome broken right leg during a USA Basketball scrimmage earlier this summer, it was safe to assume he would not see the court for the Indiana Pacers this season.

More from Indiana Pacers

George remained relatively mum on the subject for quite some time though during media day for the Indiana Pacers suggested he could potentially play this season, though understandably the team is being far more cautious with the suggestion.

“It’s very possible that I can play (this season),” Paul George said. “I’ve talked to all the guys and said, ‘Man, you guys have to get in the playoffs. That’s the best chance I’ve got of coming back and playing this year.’ I’ve already got it in mind that I could miss this whole year. I’m come to peace with that, but I’d love to be able to come back and play again.”

While it doesn’t seem completely out of the question that Paul George could actually see the court for the Indiana Pacers this year, it seems far too early to make such a prediction. You’d have to assume that if he was able to return at some point it wouldn’t be until close to the end of the season. At that point it’s almost better go keep George off the court so he gets another six months of rest and recovery, though he does seem determined to play again this season if given the opportunity.
