Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Joe Mays, a premier run-stopping linebacker in the NFL, is set to return from the IR soon barring any significant setbacks.

At 2-3 and facing a tough upcoming schedule, the Kansas City Chiefs can use all the help they can get – especially on the defensive side of the ball. Thankfully it appears reinforcements could be on the horizon as linebacker Joe Mays could be returning from the injured reserve in the relatively near future.

A seven-year veteran, Mays has proven himself to be a very solid player and is hoping to make his debut with the team soon after coming over from the Houston Texans where he started thirteen games last season.

Believed by many to be one of the better run-stopping linebackers in the NFL, Mays suffered a broken wrist in late August and has been on the injured reserve since that time. Now he’s expected to return to practice for the next few weeks in effort to build back his strength and to get himself in football shape.

Considering Joe Mays was placed on the IR by the Kansas City Chiefs in late August he’ll be eligible to return to action in Week 10 though as this point it’s not known if he’ll be ready to do so. One could reasonably assume he’ll have a very good shot at playing however considering he’s already beginning to practice.

Outside of a possible setback, he seems likely to make a big impact on the Kansas City Chiefs defense come the second half of the season.

James-Michael Johnson and Josh Mauga will likely see a small reduction in their field time once Joe Mays does return.
