Could Ray Rice be back on an NFL field eventually? While it’s unlikely to happen this season, the former Baltimore Ravens running back is set to appeal his indefinite suspension handed down by the league.

Rice and his legal team have been fighting the NFL over the ban and now it appears a date has been set in the case according to Albert Breer which will likely take place in the next three weeks. Many have questioned if the indefinite suspension will hold up given the language in the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t seem to jive with the punishment.

Shocking as it might be there have been reports suggesting that some teams could potentially have interest in Ray Rice if he was eventually allowed back into the NFL.

You’d have to think those franchises would deal with a significant amount of backlash by signing the running back, who while talented, brings an excessive amount of off field baggage.

The running back position is also one of the easier to replace via the draft so while signing Rice may seem like a good move on the surface, the public relations backlash that would quickly follow would likely put an end to such thoughts.

Still, Ray Rice will get his day to present his case to the NFL and that will be either on November 5th or 6th as he attempts to explain why his ban on playing in the NFL should be reduced. Currently there’s no word on what type of reduction he’d be getting if he did have his indefinite suspension removed.
