Report: FIFA World Cup Will Remain In Qatar In 2022

After much controversey over climate, culture and conditions, FIFA has ruled they will not be moving the World Cup location in 2018 or 2022 away from Russia and Qatar.

The World Cup in Brazil this past summer was met with a lot of political hostility over the shady way in which stadiums were erected in impoverished neighborhoods. That brought all eyes to the 2018 World Cup in Russia and more so the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as both host locations had their own unique problems the world was discovering.

Russia, the host of the 2018 World Cup, drew an insane amount of fire over the 2014 Sochi Olympics thanks to the shady way the hotels, stadiums and other Olympic facilities were built. People were forcefully evicted from their homes, the countries boorish views on homosexuality were made abundantly clear and those poor stray dogs became unofficial mascots of the games. There was also no snow — in Russia, at the Winter Olympics.

Naturally, this didn’t bode well for the way Russia would be received as hosts of the World Cup.

Qatar didn’t fare much better in the eye of public appeal as the shoddy way the stadiums were built with cash flowing under the table and workers dying at a pretty high rate on the job. Not to mention, it’s always a thousand degrees in the desert, which is where Qatar is located, but none of these factors have motivated FIFA to move either World Cup to new host sites.

If you’re under the impression that FIFA wouldn’t be upfront about the obvious reasons they’re refusing to even vote on moving the 2018 and 2022 World Cup, they pretty much came right out and said it.

Of course, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil faed criticisms of the same ilk and we’ve already forgotten the protests from the people. We’ve even forgotten about those dead dogs in Russia at Sochi, which means FIFA will take flak for a while on this before everyone moves on to the next thing.

That’s just the way the world works.
