The Timberwolves officially announced the hiring of Tom Thibodeau as head coach and president of basketball operations.

With a roster consisting of some of the best young talent in the league that has a bright future ahead of them, the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to land the top guy on the market to be their next head coach. On Wednesday, the Timberwolves officially announced that they had hired former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau as their new head coach and president of basketball operations.

Under Thibodeau, the Bulls were always one of the hardest working teams in the league and they were consistently one of the best defensive teams in the league as well. He will also oversee the moves that the Timberwolves make as they continue to build around their core nucleus of talent.

In addition to bringing in Thibodeau to oversee and coach the team, the Timberwolves also hired Scott Layden to be their general manager. He had been the assistant general manager with the San Antonio Spurs and has gotten a great deal of experience with the Spurs, after he had spent some time as a general manager with the New York Knicks.

While his time with the Knicks didn’t go well, there has been a lot of time since his stint as their general manager and learning from the Spurs is something that can’t be understated.

The Timberwolves by hiring Thibodeau are going all in and are serious about becoming a competitive franchise with intentions of soon becoming a contender in the Western Conference. It’s important to remember that growth takes time and the wins won’t all come overnight, but they have the right personnel in place now to take the franchise to where it needs to be.
