Week 4 of the college football season is in the books. Here are the winners of this weekend’s superlatives as a part of College Football Blitz.

Just like that, a third of the 2016 college football season is in the books. Most teams have played four of their 12 regular season games and things are starting to take shape in the ominous College Football Playoff picture.

The only team in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 Poll this week to fall was the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans. It wasn’t to a weak opponent either, as the Wisconsin Badgers are 4-0 and look every bit of a potential Big Ten Champion.

Through four weeks, it looks like the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC are locks to have a team in the third annual College Football Playoff. The Pac-12 could very well have the fourth team. The Houston Cougars still look as solid as ever coming out of the Group of 5. It looks as though the Big 12 will be the odd man out this season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Boise State RB Jeremy McNichols

For as much love as Houston is getting from the national media out of the Group of 5, we’d be foolish to not start taking the Boise State Broncos seriously. Boise State has been a national power for the last 15 years and the Broncos have themselves one outstanding running back.

Broncos tailback Jeremy McNichols ran all over the Oregon State Beavers defense on Saturday in Corvallis. Boise State won this road game over an improving Pac-12 team, 38-24. McNichols was everything for the Broncos’ offense on Saturday.

McNichols had 28 carries for 208 yards and three rushing touchdowns. His yards per carry of 7.4 was fantastic. The best run he had on the day was a 70-yarder. McNichols would have an additional four catches out of the Broncos backfield for 20 yards and another paydirt.

Boise State is 3-0 on the year and look like a team totally capable of getting the Group of 5’s New Year’s Six bowl bid should anything happen to Houston along the way. The Broncos are definitely one of the 25 best teams in the nation. McNichols is going to be a star on Sundays.
