Defensive Player of the Week: Wisconsin S Leo Musso

Few outside of Wisconsin thought that the Badgers were going to walk into East Lansing and get a huge victory over Michigan State in Week 4. The Spartans have been a top-five program under head coach Mark Dantonio for the last seven years.

Though Wisconsin still has work to do on offense, the Badgers have the defense that can help them win the 2016 Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis. Wisconsin smoked Michigan State at their place 30-6 in Week 4. The best player on the Badgers defense on Saturday was senior safety, Leo Musso.

He had five tackles and a 63-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to put the Badgers up 20-6 on the Spartans early in the second half. Wisconsin never looked back and that Musso scamper on defense was the first nail in the coffin for Michigan State on Saturday.

It was totally a team effort by the Badgers to keep the Michigan State offense to only six points on Saturday. The whole Wisconsin defense could have been recognized as defensive player of the week, but Russo is the obvious choice to represent the Badgers defense for this superlative.
