Report: WWE buying TNA video library, Billy Corgan rebranding TNA
WWE is reportedly set to buy the TNA video library while Billy Corgan is buying the majority stake in the company with possible big plans moving forward
The future of TNA and Impact Wrestling has seemingly been in perpetual jeopardy for the past couple of years. Even as the show has drastically improved since the arrival of former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, the future has remained in question with Dixie Carter at the helm. Over the past couple of weeks, though, it’s been the end of the line with TNA needing someone to buy the company or make a big move to determine what’s next.

Apparently that big move has now been made.
According to Justin LaBar Chair Shot Reality, WWE has indeed stepped in, but not to buy the company as a whole. WWE will be purchasing the TNA video library. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Corgan will become majority owner. LaBar adds that Corgan will likely move forward with the show, but also has possible plans to rebrand it:
Quite frankly, this couldn’t have worked out better for everyone involved. For both WWE and Corgan, it didn’t make a great deal of sense to throw all of their money into the company to keep it afloat as is. However, if Corgan can get that majority stake and WWE gets what they actually want from the company, that works out ideally.

Obviously this is just a report as nothing is final just yet. However, it’s a sensible solution to all of the potential issues from a purchase that we’ve been hearing. Now WWE can start churning out AJ Styles and Samoa Joe retrospectives. Meanwhile, Corgan now has a chance to legitimately save TNA by making it his own. Considering how he’s helped turn the product around, this is great news all around.
