Feb. 27 is Pokemon Day. Who knew, right?

Nowadays, everything has their own “day.”

There’s National Pizza Day and National Bagel Day. There’s a day to celebrate ice cream as well as coffee. Basically, name any random object or food and more often than not, there is a day dedicated to it. This is the world we live in, ladies and gents.

So of course there is a Pokemon Day. Feb. 27 will be dedicated to celebrating the wonderfulness of Pokemon around the world.

For most of us, this won’t mean that much except …

Did someone say Pokemon GO? All right, we’re interested.

The mobile game has announced that from Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. EST to March 6 at 1 p.m. EST, limited edition party Pikachus will be appearing all over the world for us to catch.

“These special Pikachu will keep their party hats forever, but they can only be found during this limited-time celebration, so make sure to keep an eye out for them as you explore!” the announcement stated.

This is not the first time we’ve gotten a costumed Pikachu in Pokemon GO. During the holidays, the mobile game ran a seasonal event in which players had a chance to catch limited edition Pikachus wearing Santa hats. While the Pikachus were adorable, the game was still criticized for making changes and additions to the game too slowly. Just throwing a hat on Pikachu wasn’t enough to draw people back in.

With the introduction of Generation 2 Pokemon last week, however, interest in the game has risen again. In the midst of this new resurgence, this party Pikachu actually does feel like a sweet added bonus. It wasn’t necessary but is gladly welcomed.

We are happily willing to celebrate Pokemon Day if this adorable friend is involved.
