Fantasy Football 2013: Top 10 Week 4 Waiver Wire pickups
4. Nate Burleson-WR-Detroit Lions (4.1%)
UPDATE: Nate Burleson suffered a broken arm during a car crash late last night/early this morning.
Even with the return of Ryan Broyles, Burleson is a big enough part of the Lions pass-happy scheme to give you some nice WR depth. Burleson has been targeted 23 times in the first three weeks finishing with at least six catches in each game. Sunday in Washington, Burleson broke 100 yards finishing with 116 but has yet to find the end zone this season.
Burleson has demonstrated a solid rapport with Matthew Stafford and should keep drawing looks going forward. There is some definite risk involved since the Lions have so many weapons with Calvin Johnson, Broyles, Joique Bell, and Reggie Bush expected to return. Burleson will probably have some ups and downs, but he’s a solid option overall going forward and can definitely fill a WR3 or flex spot especially in PPR leagues.
This week, the Lions host the Bears in a big NFC North showdown. In the past, the Bears have used Peanut Tillman to shut down Calvin Johnson meaning that Stafford may need to rely on Burleson more. He should be rostered in all PPR leagues and most non-PPR leagues as well.
