Atlanta Falcons starting running back Steven Jackson has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2, an injury that Jackson was determined to let heal so when he did return he’d suffer no lingering issues.

Unfortunately for Jackson, despite resting for five weeks now, things aren’t getting much better as Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported this morning that Jackson suffered a setback in his injury.

The Falcons were relatively quick to deem Jackson out of action earlier this week, so while he wasn’t expected to return for Week 7, there was hope he would be able to return in the near future. That future might be a bit more cloudy after Glazer’s report however.

The NFL insider didn’t really expand much on how serious the setback was of how much extra time it would cost him (if any) though it’s hard to suggest the news is in anyway positive.

Jackson hasn’t even practiced since suffering the injury, so the setback is pretty strange given his lack of on field action.
