The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t come away with a victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night, but point guard Kyrie Irving did break a few ankles in the loss.
With a five point lead in the second overtime, Irving crossed the mid-court line with 3:40 left.
Looking to use a screen, Irving made his way towards the middle of the court but with the pick coming late, he decided to pull back against his defender, Jeff Teague.
Teague saw the reverse of course coming, but his ankles apparently missed the memo as he went crumbling to the floor, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Little did the Cleveland crowd know Teague would get his revenge, hitting the game winning shot a few minutes later which likely lead to his somewhat funny tweet on Twitter after the game, letting everybody know his ankles were just fine:
So my ankles are ok just to let you guys know #crossedme

I’m pretty sure Teague wouldn’t have posted that after a loss, though still good to see the Atlanta Hawks point guard found some humor in the mild embarrassment.
