Popeyes Chicken takes credit for Saints playoff win over Eagles

When the New Orleans Saints learned they’d need to travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles for their NFC Wild Card matchup, they became concerned.

No – they weren’t worried about Nick Foles hitting DeSean Jackson over the middle. No, they weren’t worried about LeSean McCoy tearing through the heart of their defense. They weren’t worried about the Eagles at all – at least not publicly. What they were worried about though was food – Popeyes Chicken, particularly.

The Saints eat the chicken from the famed fast food franchise prior to their home games but were concerned they wouldn’t have their mojo when they traveled to Philly, so Popeyes brought the chicken to them as the players chowed down on their favorite food before the game.

And of course, the Saints won thanks to a last second field goal from Shayne Graham – complete with full stomachs courtesy of the restaurant.

The victory marked the first team in team history the Saints had won a road playoff game and the restaurant was quick to take claim for assisting:
