The future of restricted free agent guard Eric Bledsoe remains up in the air.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

Bledsoe entered the summer as one of the top free agents on the market and expected not only a major offer from the Pheonix Suns but interest from plenty of other teams as well.

Bledsoe was hoping to remain with the Suns on a five-year max deal that would be worth over $80 million. Instead, they offered him a four-year, $48 million deal. In free agency, Bledsoe never came close to signing an offer sheet, likely because teams figured the Suns would match the offer and keep Bledsoe (and they likely would have).

That has all led to speculation Bledsoe could be dealt in a sign and trade. The Suns reportedly even tried to get into the Kevin Love sweepstakes, offering Bledsoe to the Timberwolves in a sign-and-trade.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities reiterates the Timberwolves like Bledsoe but they don’t have the tools to actually acquire him.

The Timberwolves could potentially make a run at Bledsoe in a year if he winds up signing his qualifying offer with the Suns.

Bledsoe averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season. In his four-year NBA career, the 18th-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft, has averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 44.5% from the floor, 32.7% from three and 75.8% from the charity stripe.
