Needless to say, it’s been a trying time for Team USA and they received yet another scare on Thursday afternoon as Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving was injured in a nasty fall.
With Team USA up 28-points with about a minute left in the contest, Irving, not one to turn off his motor decided to drive towards the basket where he was met by two Ukrainian defenders. Both ended up smashing into Irving who in turn lost his balance in mid-air and came crashing down the floor in a very hard fashion.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, you can see Kyrie Irving’s head snap back from the impact though it looks like he avoided making direct contact with the floor.
Irving was down for a moment though was able to walk off the court with the assistance of the training staff, though was clearly in significant pain.
Thankfully Kyrie Irving had a smile on his face during postgame comments so it doesn’t appear as if the injury is very serious, though it’s not known if such will impact his status moving forward.
Fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers can let out a big sigh of relief.
