While many NBA players like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony spent their offseason losing weight, Brandon Jennings decided he needed to add pounds if he was to get better and more versatile as a player. How many pounds did he add, you ask? Around twenty-five according to the former high school star who says the added gain is mostly muscle.
"Brandon Jennings emerged from the informal workouts at The Palace practice facility, looking somewhat similar to the figure who departed to California after last season’s disappointing, playoff-less finish.Playful swagger? Check.Rare introspection? CheckTwenty-five extra pounds? Check…wait, that wasn’t here last season."
Why exactly Brandon Jennings felt he needed the extra poundage is unknown as he’s not really a guy you expect to see in the paint, though it’s likely he was tired of being tossed around during attempts to drive the line.
Of course, the worry for many when adding weight is that it will impact their shooting stroke. Then again, given how poor of a shooter Brandon Jennings is, it can’t get any worse, can it?
Jennings says he’s doing what he can to improve on what he called his worst season in the NBA and hopes there are big things in store for he and the Detroit Pistons.
