Ricky Rubio Rumors: Wolves willing to offer 4-year, $42M extension
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a great offseason, which is saying a lot considering they lost the best player on their roster in a trade. But moving Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers resulted in Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett coming to Minnesota as well as Thaaddeus Young from the 76ers.

But when it comes to Ricky Rubio, that’s a situation the Wolves have paid minimal attention to and haven’t budged on their stance much. It took a while for the front office to find the perfect deal for Love and they eventually found it.
That’s the thinking with Rubio this year, as he’s due for a contract extension but is being met with resistance when it comes to getting the max. According to Darren Wolfson from ESPN1500, the Wolves are willing to meet Rubio somewhere in the middle with a four-year, $42 million extension.
It’s not what Rubio wants to hear, but it might be as good as it gets from the Wolves. They want to find a sidekick for Andrew Wiggins, and while Zach LaVine seems like he could fit that role, talk of adding Eric Bledsoe has seemingly forced Rubio out of future plans in Minnesota.
Should he reject anything less than the max, Rubio will hit restricted free agency where he will undoubtedly get a max offer sheet and hold the Wolves’ feet to the fire.
