Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate was able to find the endzone, before getting the attention of referees as he appeared to be getting ready to throw down a dunk on the goal post.

Since the No Fun League outlawed goal post dunks during the offseason, the ref was zoned in on Tate to see whether he would leave his feet for the jam.

Instead of celebrating with a big dunk and drawing a 15-yard penalty, Tate decided to stop dead in his tracks for the first fake goal post dunk celebration of the season — at least the first one that we can recall.

The Lions seemed to enjoy Tate’s celebration, because they quickly posted a video on their official Vine account.

One of these days we hope to see a referee jump up to block a goal post dunk only to get posterized by the scoring player.
