Eric Hosmer is already an incredibly popular man in Kansas City, but after the Kansas City Royals advanced to the ALCS, he became everyone’s favorite friend at the bar.

Eric Hosmer used his bat to lead the Kansas City Royals through the ALDS as Kansas City swept the Los Angeles Angels in three games. Shortly after the team celebrated its ALCS berth, Hosmer hit a Kansas City pub to lead the celebration. This time he let his wallet do the talking.

KSHB in Kansas City reports that Hosmer and Royals teammates hit McFadden’s pub in KC for a postgame celebration in which they covered the tab for the entire bar, then covered the bar in champagne. As the article notes:

"Boisterous cheers greeted the guys as they walked into the bar just after 1 a.m. The players posed for pictures and stopped to sign autographs. They popped bottles of champagne and showered the fans."

ESPN notes, “Hosmer spent $3,000 on the early Monday morning bar tab, and his teammates shared a $12,000 bill, the Kansas City Star reported, citing a Royals official.”

Hosmer even tweeted out his intentions after the game so fans had a chance to come and celebrate with the players.

After 30 years of waiting, it’s nice to see Royals fans rewarded for their loyalty even if it comes in the form of a booze shower. For that shower to come from the ALDS hero is just a cherry on top of the surreal sundae that has been the 2014 Royals season.

Hosmer, along with Mike Moustakas, provided all the power the speedy Royals needed to surpass the AL-best Angels. Normally a speed-and-contact ball club, Hosmer and Moustakas each provided two timely home runs in the three-game stretch to bury an Angels squad many predicted would win the World Series.

The Royals will travel to Baltimore where they’ll face the Orioles in Game 1 of the ALCS.
