For the most part, playing high school basketball is a fun experience.
That is until your opponent shows up and the man you have to guard is 7’5 with a near 8-foot wingspan.
Such would never happen, right? Well, for a young “Spartan” on a Florida based high school team, that’s exactly what happened as the absurdly tall Tacko Fall made his way into the gym and completely abused his opponent. In fact, things got so bad the heavy weight defender simply decided to give up the ghost on attempting to guard the Central Florida recruit.
Really, can you blame the kid? I mean, he isn’t exactly in the best shape which doesn’t help in his effort to guard Tacko Fall. Making matters worse is Fall’s absurd length which allowed him to tower over his defender.
If there was anything going in the favor of the Spartan’s player it was that he could have potentially bounced Fall around with his stomach and size, but despite Fall’s slender frame, he probably had just as much strength as the hefty basketball player who was guarding him.
In short, we feel for you kid. I had the pleasure of guarding a player who was about two feet taller in high school as well and I’m still wearing the shame of that matchup. To make matters worse, he was just tall enough to completely abuse me on the court but not tall enough where a punch to his nuts would have looked accidental.
I tell ya, he couldn’t lose.
