Well, at least the folks at the Detroit Free Press have a sense of humor. The publication has issued an apology for their inclusion of a picture featuring John Harbaugh, current head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, as opposed to Jim Harbaugh, the now former head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The headline was originally suggesting that rumors are strong regarding a possible move back to NCAA football for the latter brother; recent reports suggest that he might be the next head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines.
Garfield would be proud of the paper’s latest tweet. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell on Twitter, the paper cited a “Case of the Mondays” as the reasoning behind their faux pas this morning, all the while promising the correct photo in tomorrow’s edition.
It is good to see the editors take such a lighthearted approach to an honest, albeit hilarious, blooper in publishing. And to be fair, all of us have had those days. Hopefully though, most have not had their mistakes featured in print, then made public globally online. Considering the circumstances, the DFP is handling this quite well.
