SS- Carlos Correa

Yes, the Houston Astros have to get past the Masahiro Tanaka and the New York Yankees in the Wild Card game, but if they are going to, you have to bet that Carlos Correa is going to have a important part in getting the Astros the win.

Correa only played in 99 games this year, so that the Astros can get another year of control over him, but if they don’t call him up, I don’t think the Astros are playing in this game.

Correa posted a .279/.342/.512 with 22 homers and 68 RBI. He also had a 4.1 WAR. Yes, he made 13 errors, but with time, those should decline.

The Astros have a pretty powerful lineup, but Correa came up and became the guy. He very well may be the face of the Astros already and if you are the face of the franchise, you’re going to be looked to to carry the load.

Correa was very consistent throught his four month stretch in the big leagues and when it mattered the most, Correa was up to the challenge. In September and so far this month, he hit .275 with six homers and 23 RBI.

The one thing to watch with Correa is his home and road splits. At home, he .319, but on the road he hit just .243. Correa is going to have to bring up that road average since they won’t have homefield advantage in any round of the AL playoffs.

Correa needs to take his game to the next level for the Astros to advance. We’ll see if he can live up to the challenge.
