MLB Playoffs 2015: 5 Rookies Who Could Make A Difference
By Jason Evans
2015 has been quite a year for rookies in baseball, possibly the best ever. So many rookies came up all over baseball and made an immediate impact. It shows that the game is in great hands moving forward. Probably no team typified that than the Chicago Cubs, who had a ton of rookie position players come up and help lead the Cubs to their first postseason appearance since 2008.
Rookies can help propel teams over the top in their chase for a World Series. John Lackey started Game seven of the World Series in 2002 in his rookie year. That same year, Francisco Rodriguez was a lights out set up man. The Yankees won the World Series in 1996 with a certain rookie shortstop (Derek Jeter in case you didn’t get that).
Chipper Jones won his lone title with the Atlanta Braves in 1995 as a rookie, hitting .364 in the postseason. All-Stars Buster Posey and Michael Wacha had huge postseasons in their rookie season.
Considering the strength of the rookie class, you have to expect that rookies will make their mark in the upcoming postseason. You’re going to see some rookies show up and step their game up and others that may fall apart. Who knows.
Today we are going to look at five rookies who are going to make an impact on the 2015 MLB postseason. These five rookies will have a lot to say about who wins the crown and who falls just short. Let’s take a look.
