Detroit Lions (+2.5) over Minnesota Vikings

Home underdogs forever. To be honest, this probably isn’t going to be a “fade the public” spot, at least if you believe the early numbers on the action. Still, the public is pretty even on this match-up, and Detroit continues to be better and more talented than their record indicates. More than anything, this is a play against Minnesota laying points on the road, as I simply don’t believe in the Vikings to that degree with the way their passing game has looked to this point in the season. Adrian Peterson might rush for 150 yards or more, but Minnesota has had issues in finishing drives, and the Lions seemed to figure something out with their deep passing game last week. It may not be a fun pick, but Detroit is the right side when you factor in the candy.

New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts UNDER 52.5

Our first total of the season! This is a pure “fade the public” play of the highest order, with 88% of the action (via Vegas Insider) coming in on the over between two teams that haven’t exactly been lighting it up offensively. With that as the backdrop, this line has actually dipped by a half-point in some spots since it opened, and the public is envisioning a battle between Drew Brees and Andrew Luck with stars (and points) in their eyes. Give me the under and run to the window before the sharps bang this line into place with a couple of huge bets on the right side.
