5. Doug Martin
Martin is a very interesting case. He broke into the National Football League after being taken with a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Boise State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a rookie, Martin was nothing short of sensational, rushing for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry. It appeared Martin was ready to be one of the best backs in the NFL, and that is before you factor in 49 catches and 472 receiving yards.
However, Martin was a shell of his former self in 2013 and 2014. Combined, Martin was only able to play in 17 games and rushed for less than 1,000 yards. It seemed that Martin was simply another running back who shot across the NFL landscape like a comet, only to burn out quickly.
Then in 2015, Martin has shown that he still has plenty of tread left on his tires. Martin was battling with Charles Sims for the starting job and overtook the youngster. Going into Week 15, Martin had rushed for 1,214 yards with five scores. Martin is showcasing ample ability that will make him attractive on the open market, should Tampa Bay let him get there.
