5. Rubby De La Rosa-Arizona Diamondbacks (1.4%)

Coming into his start tonight, another high-risk option to consider is Rubby De La Rosa of the D-Backs (options 3-5 are all dice-rolls).  De La Rosa is coming off his best start of the season, though, and in a solid matchup at home he should be able to give you some quality innings.

De La Rosa’s ERA is still 5.94 coming into today’s start, but he started the season by getting crushed by the Cubs and watching it balloon to 16.20.  He has lowered it in each of his five games since then and looked strong in his last start which came against Pittsburgh last Saturday.  In that outing, De La Rosa went six solid innings striking out six, walking one, and allowing one run on three hits.  He picked up his second win in as many appearances and is now 2-3 with a 1.32 WHIP.

Tonight, De La Rosa has to tangle with the Cardinals in a matchup I would usually try to avoid, but that isn’t a luxury we have given the scarcity of options for tonight.  De La Rosa and the D-Backs will be looking to earn a split with the Cardinals in their four-game set, and I think there’s reasons for optimism here even though there are also definitely serious risk factors.
