NBA Draft: 5 players Chicago Bulls need to target
Tyler Ulis is a perfect fit for the Bulls because he is more than likely an immediate upgrade over Aaron Brooks. Ulis was a sophomore this year so he has experience, and has played a lot of high caliber basketball at Kentucky. Last season he was the leader of the Wildcats and was a finalist for the Naismith Award, averaging 17 points and 7 assists per game.
Ulis can really compare to Brooks, both are smaller point guards with handles and a shot. Time will tell how the 20 year old will adjust to the big leagues, but you could argue that Ulis is already a better defender, and clearly has the edge in youth and energy.
His size and athletic peak do not give him the highest ceiling, but at his highest he could definitely be a quality starter. His best role in the NBA would probably be in a sixth man type of role on a good team, but that is almost exactly what role he would get thrown into in Chicago.
They can see how high they think his ceiling is this season and go from there, but in terms of an immediate helper they may not be able to find better at pick fourteen.
