FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 24
Catcher
High-Salary Option: Buster Posey-San Francisco Giants (3,900): If you have the cash to spend at catcher, Posey is a good option as the Giants come home for a weekend series against the pitching-poor Phillies. Posey is hitting .290 (20-69) in the month of June so far with a homer and ten RBI. He has hit safely in nine of his last ten games with four doubles during that span along with five multi-hit performances.∗∗∗
Mid-range Option: Matt Wieters-Baltimore Orioles (3,200): The O’s and Rays meet this weekend in Baltimore for an AL East showdown. Tonight, Wieters will take on Matt Moore who he is 8-20 (.400) against in his career with a double and two homers. Wieters has been hot over the last week too going 7-15 (.467) including a monster 4-5 game last Sunday when he hit his seventh homer of the season.∗∗∗∗
Mid-range Option: Derek Norris-San Diego Padres (3,200): Norris has hit three homers in his last five games including one last night against the Reds. He’s still only hitting. .215 on the season, but he is now up to ten homers and 25 RBI. He has hit better against lefties this season coming into tonight 17-65 (.262) against Southpaws including three homers against them. Since he’ll face lefty Cody Reed tonight, he makes an interesting midrange play with upside tonight.∗∗
High-Value Option: Yan Gomes-Cleveland Indians (2,600): Gomes is still hitting just .184 on the season, but he has started to turn things around lately with a five-game hitting streak in which he has gone 6-16 (.375) with a pair of doubles. Gomes has gone 5-16 (.313) this season against the Tigers who he’ll face tonight as he takes on Jordan Zimmerman .∗∗
High-Value Option: Willson Contreras-Chicago Cubs (2,500): Contreras started at 1B last night against the Marlins and went 1-4. He is still hitting .385 since being called up with a pair of homers and five RBI. He has hit right in the middle of the Chicago lineup when he has started, so if he gets the call again tonight against Tom Koehler he’ll be a nice starting catcher bat for a very affordable price.∗∗∗∗
Bargain Basement Bonus: Travis d’Arnaud-New York Mets (2,000): D’artaud just returned from the DL and is 0-7 in his two starts since coming back. His slow start has dropped his batting average to .170 for the season although he has only played 15 games. He is expected to be the Mets’ regular catcher going forward, and he’ll likely be in the lineup again tonight at Turner Field in a good matchup against the Braves. He hasn’t shown anything yet, but he’s a good enough hitter to consider a steal at this crazy-low minimum price. ∗∗
