The Nuggets need his star power

Ever since the Nuggets watched Carmelo Anthony skip town after the 2010-11 season, the team has been an ongoing experiment in whether or not an NBA team needs a star player, a true face of the franchise, to be a viable contender.

For one season, the 57-25 campaign in 2012-13 under George Karl, it appeared that it might work. It’s been nothing but misery and mediocrity ever since, and it’s hard to think of more than a handful of teams with less current buzz than Denver.

Dwyane Wade could change that situation instantly. not only would the city and the team rally around him, but other free agents might look differently on the franchise with Wade in the fold. All of a sudden Denver becomes a place to consider, not one to avoid.

There hasn’t been a singular force selling seats and merchandise since Melo left. D-Wade would become that reason and singlehandedly help re-energize the fan base.
