Bubba Watson (12,300): Watson is a two-time winner after taking the Travelers Championship last year.  He had his first PGA Tour win back in 2010 at this venue when he defeated Corey Pavin and Scott Verplank in a playoff.  Since last year, Watson has added his ninth PGA Tour win with a win at the Northern Trust Open at Riviera in February of this year.  Since then, Watson hasn’t missed a cut, but he also only has one top-ten which was a runner up in early March at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Last week, he ended up t60 at the PGA Championship, so he doesn’t come in with great form to his title defense. However, his history on the course is hard to ignore.  In addition to his two wins, Watson has two other top-five finishes, so there’s definitely good reason that he’s the most expensive player on the board.

Brooks Koepka (11,200): Koepka returned from his ankle injury with an impressive week at Baltusrol last week and was right in the thick of things coming down the stretch before taking an unfortunate walk in the woods.  Koepka was playing just his first tournament back after an ankle injury cost his several weeks of action including The Open Championship at Royal Troon.  Koepka has finished in the top 15 in four straight tournaments (not counting the Bridgestone where he was forced to WD with the injury).  He finished runner up at the Byron Nelson and St. Juce earlier this summer before last week’s t4.  Koepka admitted he’s still less than 100%, but as he heals he should be even better in the coming weeks.  While he has great form, he doesn’t have nearly the course history of Bubba having played the Travelers just once in his career and finishing t51 in 2014 leaderboard given his current form and will look to claim his second Major of the season while finishing in the top ten in all four after a t4 at The Masters to start the season’s Majors.
