Mitch(ell) Trubisky

Quarterback, North Carolina Tar Heels

Some you change your name to something you preferred, huh? That’s right Mitch Trubisky is no more. He wants to be called Mitchell Trubisky. The name change, his decent 40-yard dash time (4.67 seconds), and that he measured at 6’2″ means Trubisky had a great combine for a quarterback.

Being 6’2″ helps so much to ensure that Trubisky will end up being a franchise quarterback worthy of being a first-round pick. Some questioned if he would be 6’2″ at the combine. It’s not ideal for a quarterback’s height, but anything less would put up some potential red flags for using a top-10 pick on the one-year starter out of Chapel Hill.

It isn’t just arm strength that makes Trubisky a potential franchise quarterback. He has a bit of mobility to him. That’s why he grades favorably to the Blake Bortles/Andrew Luck/Carson Wentz prototype, but isn’t as tall as those three.

The name change. In some ways, that was brilliant. It was a great way for Trubisky to bring the focus back to him. To some degree, it helped overshadow Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson’s stellar combine. The combines aren’t anywhere as important as the pro days are for quarterbacks. Undergoing a name change mid-interview, who does that?
