MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel August 9th
MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel August 9th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 10 games, with Houston (6), Milwaukee (5.6), Washington (5.5), and New York (5.4), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
MLB DFS – DraftKings MLB Values:
Matt Carpenter – STL (1B) – $3700
Matt Carpenter has done us well over the last few games, and if DraftKings continues to leave him underpriced, why not go back for more. Carpenter has scored over 16 DraftKings’ points in each of his last three games, and will be in a good matchup tonight, facing a righty. Carpenter holds a .363 wOBA split and a .226 ISO split. Given the pricing discrepancies between the sites, Carpenter should only be considered on DraftKings.
Lucas Duda – TB (1B) – $3700
Tampa Bay will host the visiting Red Soxs, in a game in which the Rays are projected to score 4.1 runs. While this isn’t the most appealing offensive matchup, hitters like, Lucas Duda, are underpriced on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel. Duda only costs $3700 tonight, which is a nice discount, given that he was priced in the $4000 range in recent weeks. Duda will benefit from facing a righty, where he holds a .373 wOBA split and a .277 ISO split. If Duda is batting second, he should offer value.
Corey Dickerson – TB (OF) – $3400
After having the night off last night, Dickerson should return to face the right hander, Rick Porcello. Dickerson has had much more success against right-handed pitching, with a .367 wOBA split and a .252 ISO split (.081 better than when facing a lefty). If Dickerson is leading off, he should be considered.
MLB DFS – FanDuel MLB Values:
Josh Reddick – HOU (OF) – $3700
Houston has the best projected team total, as they’ll face the righty, Miguel Gonzalez. Gonzalez got shelled in his last appearance, giving up seven earned runs. Lefties like Josh Reddick should hopefully be able to take advantage of Gonzalez’s struggles. Reddick is severely underpriced on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings, and fairs much better against right-handed pitching. Reddick holds a .363 wOBA split, .112 better than when facing a lefty.

Ender Inciarte – ATL (OF) – $2800
Ender Inciarte is one of the top punt plays on the slate, as he should be leading off for Atlanta and could benefit from a team total of 5 runs. Inciarte doesn’t offer much from a power standpoint, but does average .117 stolen bases per game. Atlanta will face righty, Jerad Eickhoff tonight, who has allowed 12 stolen bases in his 19 starts.
Zack Cozart – CIN (SS) – $3300
Cincinnati will take on the Padres again tonight, and hold a team total of 5 runs. Shortstop, Zack Cozart is much cheaper on FanDuel, and will be in an advantageous matchup vs. a lefty. Cozart holds a .398 wOBA split and a .241 ISO split. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 9 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 15%, and his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, over his yearly averages.
