High Salary Guard – Part 2

Shavonte Zellous – New York Liberty ($5,800): If you are a Liberty fan and enjoy using New York players, then consider Shavonte Zellous. I really don’t enjoy the Liberty backcourt situation, as I have mentioned in the past, but if I were to pick a guard on that team, it would be Zellous. She is priced higher than she has been in recent weeks but her price still isn’t bad considering her potential. Her minutes are usually in the 30’s which allows her plenty of time to put up some points.

Jasmine Thomas – Connecticut Sun ($5,300): So Jasmine Thomas’ price actually dropped since her last game against Atlanta even though she put up nearly 29 fantasy points. She had a rough outing against Dallas in which she only scored six points but that was because she was coming back from an ankle injury that had sidelined her for a few games. At this point, that price is laughable at best as she should be priced significantly higher. Courtney Williams is also priced at $5,300 and with all due respect to her, she is no Jasmine Thomas, even though I wouldn’t mind stacking them both on Friday due to their bargain price and high ceiling.

Odyssey Sims – Los Angeles Sparks ($5,300): I love Odyssey Sims lately and you should too. Why she is only priced at $5,300 is beyond me considering how well she has played lately. Though Chelsea Gray has been performing well, Sims has actually slightly outperformed her as of late. Need proof? Since the end of July, Sims is averaging 27 points per game versus Gray’s 26. She is somewhat risk because she does have the tendency to fizzle out at times, which could happen anytime, but for now I think it is best we continue to ride the wave, save some cap space and get her into our lineups. In fact, stacking Gray and Sims together on Friday night isn’t a bad way to go either.

Erica Wheeler – Indiana Fever ($5,100): If Briann January and Tiffany Mitchell both miss more time on Friday night due to knee issues, check out Erica Wheeler. Though Indiana is playing Minnesota, which is a nightmare for any team, Indiana has to get production from somewhere. At $5,100, the potential is there and you wouldn’t really be losing much if it doesn’t work out. She put up nine points paired with seven assists against the Lynx back in July and with the two aforementioned guards mentioned before her sidelined, it may be even higher. Check the status of both January and Mitchell before tip-off and if either one of them play, then scratch Wheeler out of consideration.

Value plays to consider:

Epiphanny Prince – New York Liberty ($4,400)

Jazmon Gwathmey – Indiana Fever ($4,400) **Only if Mitchell and January are out**

Alana Beard – Los Angeles Sparks ($3,400)
