Boston Celtics: PayDay

Hell yeah! Time to sell our shares, Daniel! We’re cashing in!

After years of keeping assets like the Brooklyn picks and the Jae Crowder existence untouchable, the Boston Celtics decided now was the time. With Crowder gone, they moved on from Avery Bradley as well, and this year they have Gordon Hayward, and Kyrie Irving, and One of the Morrises in their place. They managed to do all this while still holding on to Terry Rozier. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd have nothing on Danny Ainge.

This should be a very fun year for the Boston Celtics, if you like the Boston Celtics. Many people do, but many of them are also from Boston. A lot of other people look at them with an air of annoyance. I’ll admit to being the latter.

And PayDay’s are not universally loved. Some people just consider them to be Baby Ruth bars without the chocolate shell. That’s not entirely accurate, but I agree with the sentiment.
Still, PayDays are solid. They have the potential to be better than Baby Ruth bars, too, especially when the summer comes and the weather heats up. You don’t want to have to deal with melting chocolate and Kelly Olynyk then. You want a nice, solid core of nuts and caramel.

This is a good candy for a good team that has the potential to be more than that in specific circumstances. Maybe one can expect a better candy assignment next year if this season goes well, but this isn’t a bad place to start. Now, we just wait and see if the absent assets mature more than this team does.
