Trumaine Johnson, CB

Former team: Los Angeles Rams

The best available corner on the market is former Los Angeles Rams’ Trumaine Johnson. The team and Johnson have not been able to work out a deal and hitting free agency is likely.

The former third-round pick from Montana has all the traits of a top corner. At 6-foot-2 and 213 pounds, he has the size to match with the game’s best receivers. He has played exceptional since entering the starting lineup in 2013. His break out season was the 2015 campaign where he had seven interception.

The Miami Dolphins are starting a rookie and second year player at corner to end this past season. Neither have the skill set or size that Johnson can bring to the table.

Johnson spent last year playing under the franchise tag for the Rams. He was unable to work out a long term deal last offseason and throughout this season. Signs point to him returning to Los Angeles given the team’s cap situation and his value to the team.

Should he leave the Rams, Miami would be a great fit. He would immediately upgrade their secondary and give them a corner to match up with guys like Brandin Cooks and Robbie Anderson in their division. An elite corner can change an entire defense and Johnson has played like one the best few seasons. However, Miami’s shaky cap situation may prevent them from even entering the conversation.
