1. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings hold a lot of cards in where Keenum lands or doesn’t land this offseason. The franchise tag is the most obvious option, with the slightly less-costly and more flexible transition tag possible too, which Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has made a case for regarding Keenum.

With offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur gone and John DeFilippo replacing him, the Vikings may have faith regarding Keenum doing something close to repeating his 2017 campaign. Bringing him back on a tag for one year would also open the door to competition for the starting job, via previous internal options (Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford) or someone completely from the outside.

Keenum has an opportunity to capitalize nicely on a good season, with a multi-year deal that would give him a level of certainty and stability he has not had in his career. Exactly where that price point will come out to be on an annual basis will be interesting to see, assuming Keenum does hit the market on some level. There is not much of a so-called “middle class” among NFL quarterbacks, but Keenum could become the man at the top of that not-elite, not on a rookie contract tier for 2018 when it’s all said and done.
