Will Jacksonville try to retain Robinson in his free agency? Absolutely, as one would think that he would be the Jaguars’ preeminent target this offseason on the free agent market. Sure, the Jaguars won a bunch of games without him in 2017, but they know that they’ll need him going forward to contend for a Super Bowl.

The big question with Robinson is how much money he will garner in a new deal with the Jaguars. Will he be coming back on a multi-year extension? Could it be a short-term deal? Is he a candidate for the franchise tag? Jacksonville could slap the tag on Robinson, but will need to do so in the next few days. Otherwise, he could stand to make a bit of coin in his second contract in the league.

When healthy, Robinson is the best offensive player on the Jaguars. He makes his teammates better around him when he is on his game. Running back Leonard Fournette may be more talented, but Robinson is a top-10 player at his position and Fournette isn’t quite there entering year two. So how much cap space do the Jaguars have available to bring back Robinson on a new deal?

Jacksonville has cap space, but won’t be the biggest spender this spring. The Jaguars have $32,319,573 in available space. Given that Jacksonville’s championship window is now, he is familiar with the organization and Florida has no state income tax, Robinson could garner a pay raise on a team-friendly deal with the Jaguars this spring. It’s tough for him to walk away from a good situation in Jacksonville at this time.
