8. Eugenie Bouchard: Mac and Cheese

Perhaps the most relatable athlete on this entire list in Canadian tennis star Genie Bouchard and her obsession with mac and cheese. I believe in situations like this, the cool kids say “it me.”

First, let’s skip right by the whole “mac and cheese isn’t pop culture” because we all know that’s nonsense. Mac and cheese is a phenomenon, loved by millions, nay, billions. It’s simple, it’s delicious and a quick google search will show you that it is celebrated across the world with countless festivals.

Like mac and cheese, Genie Bouchard is also a beloved icon. The tennis star and Sports Illustrated model made headlines off the court when she accepted a bet with John Goerkhe, a Patriots fan, on Twitter during Super Bowl 51. At the time of the bet, the Patriots were down by an insurmountable 25 points.

Bouchard discounted the fact that the Falcons coaching staff were actually really stupid and the stars aligned for young Johnny, as the New England Patriots clawed their way back from a 28-3 deficit to win the Super Bowl and send these two on a date to an NBA game in Brooklyn.

A year later, the two attended Super Bowl 52, where the Patriots weren’t gifted with poor coaching and stupidity and ended up losing to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 41-33.

Mac and cheese! We got off topic there for a second, but there’s no doubt these two enjoyed some upscale mac and cheese on one of their dates together. What better meal for a first and second date!

Bouchard continues her climb back to the top-tier in tennis. She is currently ranked 129th after being as high as 5th in her young career. Bouchard is only 24 and has a long career of wins and mac and cheese ahead of her.
