Josh Adams, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Stats: nine carries, 61 yards, one reception for six yards

The Philadelphia Eagles have been cycling through running backs ever since Jay Ajayi went down with an injury. Each of Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and now Josh Adams have led the team in carries in recent weeks.

This past weekend it was Adams who stood out and might staked a claim to a larger role. Philadelphia’s offense has really struggle to find a rhythm with out a consistent ground attack.

Adams is a bigger back who prefers to work downhill. He’s someone who can move the pile and pick up those tough yards between the tackles. It would make sense for the Eagles to give Adams more work in order to see if he has the potential to be an every-down back.

Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Smallwood saw eight carries but only managed 24 yards. Adams was able to rush for 61 yards averaging over six yards per carry.

Smallwood was able to do some damage in the passing game which is an area where Adams has yet to get involved. Moving forward, we could see a situation where Adams gets the early down works and Smallwood is the third-down back.
